Photographic Imaging
Choosing this pathway students will use photography as a means of communication, visual literacy and creative expression. They will learn to master camera controls to create high quality photographs. We will spend time learning from industry professionals along with hands-on opportunities. Students will become proficient in digital post-production techniques to enhance color, emphasize detail, color correct and manipulate photos. Both of our courses, Photographic Imaging 1-2 & Photographic Imagining 3-4 are articulated courses with San Diego City college. An end of course portfolio will be submitted, providing students with college credit in addition to their high school art credit. SDCC offers a variety of courses where interested EVMCHS students can continue growing in the field of photography. Students are eligible to take these courses once they are completed with Photographic Imaging 1-2 and 3-4. Additional information about SDCC photography program can be found on the website. |
Graphic Design
Enrolling in this course, students will learn the basics of graphic design by preparing original art combining typography, page layout, and integrated graphic elements. They receive instruction in the following areas: elements of art and principles of design; mechanical and computer design methods; finishing of graphic products; historical and cultural development of graphics and the printing industry. The course teaches students how to organize ideas, create meaning in their original work, and work ideas into new and useful creations, thereby developing the students’ confidence in their artistic abilities. Our graphic design course is articulated with San Diego City College. An end of course exam and portfolio will be submitted, providing students with college credit in addition to their high school art credit. Being on the San Diego City College campus gives students the opportunity to continue their graphic design pathway, where they can be eligible to receive a certificate of achievement in graphic design, interaction design or graphic fundamentals.
